September is going to be a busy month!

Today, Aug 31st (nearly September) is the Newby Cup, all entrants to be at the club by 10.15.  If you have not entered it is too late now, you can however come down to spectate and support. - take a look at this page to see the winners and watch some exciting and expert bowling.

Next Sunday (7th Sept) the Digby Dixon trophy, new bowlers particularly welcome to enter this.  A list is up in the club to add your names to, there is also an explanation of how the competition will work.

There is also still time to submit your ideas for the name for the new shelter.

A reminder of three monumental events:

• Steve Robinson, a professional snooker player and coach, is giving an introductory session on what coaching he can offer (and the cost) on Monday, 18 August at 19:30;
• Start of the third series of 6 Reds Competition on Monday, 25 August at 19:30;
• We will shortly be asking for entries for the Greaves and Shanley Snooker and Billiards trophies. Both competitions are gold letter events on the Honours Board. 

If you want a shot (pun intended) at billiards or snooker, let me know.

The official opening of the new shelter is on the 7th September but what will we call it.  Over to you, send us your suggestions and a new name can be determined.

You are cordially invited to the Opening of the new Hulleys Arbour on Sunday 7th September. On that day we will have a Round Robin tournament to compete for the Digby Dixon trophy.

There will be a lunch interval from 12.30 to 1.30. This will be a plate sharing event hopefully outdoors. There will be free fizz and the bar will be open.
I am hoping every member of the club will try to attend so let’s have a great day.

If you have a friend wanting to join the club please bring them along, they can play in the preliminary rounds of the competition but cannot win the ultimate prize .

Please note that all entries must be in by noon on Saturday 6th September so the draw can be made making the day easier to manage .

The weather was kind to us and 19 matches were played. Lots of cake and fizz consumed as well as close games. The Men scored the most points but the Women won the most games so Linda and I felt that a draw was a fair result.
Thanks to all those who took part and to Dan for collating the scores.

The NEWBY CUP is a is a Doubles Competition. It is a Major Cup Competition and is a Gold Letter entry on the main display board. The competition is to be played on Sunday 31^st August.  It's open to ALL members, so partners can be chosen rather than be paired together from a draw.
